joined the 3,000-Hit Club with a single to right field off Minnesota pitcher Mike Trombley, June 30, 1995. Though best known as a Baltimore Oriole, Murray garnered hit #3000 playing for Cleveland, thus becoming the third man to reach the 3,000-hit plateau while wearing an Indians uniform (Nap Lajoie and Tris Speaker are the other two). Murray also joined Pete Rose as the only switch-hitters in the Club.

Murray's landmark hit occurred just a few miles away from St. Paul, Minnesota, the home town of two other members of the Club—Dave Winfield and the next man to collect 3,000 hits: Paul Molitor.
