Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jose Rijo, 1993

In 1993, the Cincinnati Reds and expansion Florida Marlins revived the sleeveless jersey style last worn in the big leagues in 1971. In so doing, the Reds also became the last team to abandon the pull-over style jerseys, first popularized by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1970. Since the reintroduction of the uniform vest, over half a dozen clubs have opted to wear the comfortable, loose-fitting sleeveless jerseys.
