1938 |
The 1938 American Association All-Star Game, played in Toledo on the night of July 14, featured up-and-coming stars such as Ted Williams and Eddie Joost. But another attraction of the game was the uniforms worn by the All-Star squad. The AA All-Stars wore red, white and blue uniforms made of a shiny satin weave, designed to dazzle the eye under the brilliance of electric lights. Three major league teams, the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, and Cincinnati Reds, experimented with satin uniforms for regular season night games in the 1940s, but the style never caught on. |
