became the second member of the 3,000-Hit Club when he doubled in the
ninth inning off Philadelphia's Erskine Mayer, June 9, 1914. Mayer went on to win 21 games
that season, thus making Wagner the only man to join the 3,000-Hit Club off a 20-game
winning pitcher from the same season. Just under four months following Wagner's historic hit, Nap Lajoie became the third member of the 3,000-Hit Club.
