made history on Sunday, July 30, 2017, when his fourth-inning double made him the first Dominican-born player to collect 3,000 hits. Facing Orioles left-hander Wade Miley in a Sunday afternoon game at Arlington’s Globe Life Park, Beltré smacked a 3-0 fastball down the left-field line to reach the celebrated milestone. As the historic hit came on Father’s Day in the Dominican Republic (the final Sunday of July), it was only appropriate that Beltré’s wife and three children greeted the 20-year big league veteran just moments after he became the 31st player to join the 3,000-Hit Club.
