You know, Julian Javier, to me, is not just the best second base man I've ever seen, he's one of the best ever to play that position. And, the best way to help younger players is the way you play in the field. Because, when I came up, Mays helped me with San Francisco. I said to myself, "It's my turn to help people who are coming up." Like José Cruz, he started with St. Louis and Bobby Tolan all the young players. But, I was very, very happy to be able to help them develop.
I did a baseball school there from, 10 years there. I don't live there now. I live in California. But, I love my country. I love Puerto Rico. And, so I tried to help the youth, because through the game of baseball, I escaped poverty. I came to the States to play ball. I grew up in the ghetto there, so many things. So, I like give back to society. I help as much as I can. I love to do that.
I go there for three months every year, from November to January. I've got some great friends there and my family's there. I love to go there. I love Puerto Rico.
