United Nations of Baseball

Baseball has a complex history in the Caribbean, as interconnected-but distinct-as the nations themselves. Primarily introduced and nourished by Cubans in the 19th century, baseball in the Caribbean has taken on the flavor and spirit of its new homes, notably Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Baseball reflects the different ways these lands have wrestled with their own economic, political and social issues, providing a special view into the cultural elements that make each place unique.
