Confronting Barriers - Academies


All players arriving at academies are required to fill out a "green card." For their protection, all prospective players must be signed to a contract within 30 days or leave the academy.

Once Latin players arrive in the U.S., some clubs employ professional counselors to help their ballplayers adjust to life here. The main goal is to improve language skills, helping players both on and off the field.
