This rubber baseball was used by Japanese
amateur teams. Professional baseball resurfaced in Japan after a wartime
hiatus. The embossed symbol at the top of the ball is "ken," the
trademark of the baseball manufacturing company Nagase Kenko. The symbols
in black read "gunjyu," meaning that the ball was for military
use.
