Ebbets Field, were sold to patrons who participated in wartime promotions
where admission prices were waived, yet taxes were still required.
Admission on "Kitchen Fat Day" equaled a can of kitchen fat plus the
federal tax. Why? Because the glycerin in the fat was needed for the
production of black powder.
